Elife har bra finansiering og har jobbet 18 måneder med hovedvekt på brukervennlighet. Jeg vet at det jobbes med annotering også. Resultatet så langt er dette.
Elife gjør mye kult, men virker ikke som de har gjort noe forsøk på å lage en standard som kan gjenbrukes av andre? Da bunner vel akkurat dette ned i nok en brukervennlig og proprietær leseplattform..?
Det virker som eLife er fast bestemt på å bidra til gjenbruk ifølge denne pressemelding fra eLife 24. juli: "eLife joins Substance Consortium to support development of open-source online content-editing toolsBy joining the consortium, eLife will support the introduction of innovative new tools to help expand the current online open scholarly infrastructure.Press pack Jul 24, 2017" https://elifesciences.org/for-the-press/f87f62a7/elife-joins-substance-consortium-to-support-development-of-open-source-online-content-editing-tools
De påstår at de kommer til å legge ut kildekoden: "And while we’ve made every effort to ensure the site serves as a good example of UX and accessibility best practices, we know others can do even better.
To that end, we will soon be releasing all the design patterns, style guides and key visual and code assets developed for eLife 2.0 under a CC-BY license, in the hope that they will lower the barrier to entry for other journals to use what we learned in the making of eLife 2.0 to improve their own user experience."
